Pippalyasavam is a well known Ayurvedic medicine used in treatment of anemia, piles, etc. It is also known by the terms – Pippalyasava, Pippalyadyasava, etc. It contains long pepper as the main ingredient. It is a liquid fermented preparation. Pippalyasavam is used for a variety of conditions. It is used in the treatment of anemia, piles, digestive complaints, sprue, liver complaints. It is also used as a medicine to put on weight.
Kshaya – Tuberculosis, depletion of muscle mass and body strength
Gulma – abdominal tumor
Karshya -to gain weight
Grahani – malabsorption syndrome, IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome)
Pandu – anemia
Arsha – hemorrhoids
Pipalyasava is not known to cause serious side effects. It is a pure, natural formula containing herbal ingredients. It does not contain any chemical constituents. Hence, it is safe to use. In some cases, patients may develop mild gastric complaints and loose motions. These side effects may occur if the medicine is administered in a very high dose.
During pregnancy, it is best to avoid this / take this only under medical supervision.
During lactation period, it can be taken in lower doses, based on doctor’s advice.
Pipalyasava calms Vata and Pitta.
Store in a cool place in tightly closed amber colored bottle, protect from light and moisture.
In higher doses than prescribed, it may produce gastric complaints such as gastritis. People with sensitive stomach may not tolerate this medicine.
